Hitachi ZeroCarbon has declared a strategic collaboration with JBM Electric Vehicles, a key contributor in the worldwide electric vehicle sector, to implement its ZeroCarbon BatteryManager in electric bus operations. This partnership signifies the introduction of this groundbreaking technology in the Indian market, providing essential information on the efficiency of electric transport in urban areas with diverse climate conditions, helping in the swift uptake of affordable, eco-friendly transportation options.
India and the Middle East, recognized for their significant weather variations, offer an optimal environment for evaluating battery performance under difficult conditions. The ZeroCarbon BatteryManager will gather real-time information from a test fleet, offering essential insights into charging patterns, route efficiency, and asset utilization. This information will assist in improving battery performance in various climates, with the goal of optimizing the residual value of batteries and enhancing the total cost of ownership for fleet managers.
The partnership between JBM Electric Vehicles and Hitachi ZeroCarbon aims to create a business model showcasing the feasibility of electric buses as a cost-effective substitute for conventional diesel buses. The initiative will act as a learning hub to enhance the technology and create a framework for broader adoption of electric buses in India, potentially setting a precedent for other countries in South Asia. The aim is to demonstrate that electric buses can serve as a sustainable and economical option for urban transportation systems.
This collaboration also signifies a chance for Hitachi ZeroCarbon to broaden its offerings in the Indian market. In 2024, Hitachi assisted the UK's largest bus operator in obtaining affordable funding to acquire 1,000 electric buses. Currently, Hitachi intends to implement this effective strategy in India through JBM Electric Vehicles, tackling cost-related challenges and advancing zero-emission transportation options.
